Piston prepping is probably one of the most overlooked areas of an engine.
It is important to make sure that the valves are not shrouded during overlap and top dead center as this will affect low lift air flow drastically as well as affect combustion efficiency it will also affect camshaft timing greatly! The valve-train is a very misunderstood area, understanding how everything from camshaft profile, lifter wheel diameter, pushrod diameter, rocker arm ratio, spring pressure, valve & retainer weight works in relation to cylinder head flow, compression ratio, engine cubic in and so forth is quite a bit tricky, this is were our experience can lend a hand to you as all of this has to work together in good harmony! Example: the pushrod diameter and thickness can help overcome such things as valve bounce and valve train harmonics by using different diameters to tune the valve train frequency in the same manner as a musician tunes his or hers guitar strings! This is definitely not something that every camshaft or engine builder wants the typical hobbiest to know!
